About Me
Hi, I’m Katie Schubert—graphic designer, digital illustrator, animator, web developer, jack of many creative trades, and semi-retired Pokémon Master.
Based in Salem, Oregon, I love creating bold, playful designs filled with bright colors, personality, and a little bit of nostalgia. With a minor in Art History, I’m constantly inspired by retro and historical design, while a childhood spent reading comic books and watching anime helped shape the graphic, illustrative style you’ll find throughout my work.
When I’m not designing, you can usually find me drawing, playing video games (cough Pokémon cough), reading, cosplaying, wandering around a Renaissance faire, thrifting for hidden treasures, drinking tea—never coffee!—wearing a great pair of boots, eating chocolate, or taking long walks on the Oregon coast.
And in case there was any doubt: cats. Always cats. Show me the kitties.
At the heart of my work is a simple goal: to create bold, fun, happy things that make people smile.
A Little More About My Work
Over the course of my career, I’ve grown into a multidisciplinary designer who is just as comfortable developing a brand identity as I am illustrating custom artwork, designing a tradeshow environment, producing a video, preparing a project for print, or building and launching a website.
My experience spans graphic design, branding, illustration, web development, print production, publishing, marketing, environmental design, and motion graphics. Having such a broad creative toolkit allows me to see projects as more than individual pieces. I can think about how a logo translates to a website, how a campaign carries across print and digital, or how a brand comes to life in a physical space.
That versatility has given me the opportunity to work on everything from full rebrands, logos, brochures, catalogs, and marketing campaigns to tradeshow booths, conference graphics, custom icon libraries, murals, infographics, videos, motion graphics, and WordPress websites.
While I love making things look great, good design has to do more than that. I approach my work with both creativity and strategy, considering what needs to be communicated, who needs to hear it, and how the design can support the larger goals behind a project. I enjoy being involved from the earliest idea through the final details and seeing all of those pieces come together into something cohesive.
My experience has also given me opportunities to share what I’ve learned with the next generation of creatives. I was invited to participate as a paid industry panelist at Western Oregon University, speaking alongside fellow professional designers about working in the design industry and sharing my perspective and experience with students.
Most of all, I genuinely enjoy collaborating with people who have an idea they’re excited about and helping turn that idea into something tangible. Whether I’m working with a client, a creative team, or an organization, I want the finished work to feel thoughtful, memorable, and unmistakably them.
Let’s create something great—and maybe make the world a little more colorful while we’re at it.
